I thought yours and Patti's wry comments about death somewhat unusual but actually funny in their own way. I never heard of a cemetery for stillborns, but one of my sons was stillborn so I am considering that stone includes him. You are correct--as we get older, and see the horrible ending that so many have, it gets more real. I must get to that Mutter Museum. My condolences on your recent loss.
I think that embracing the prospect of death and respecting all of the different cultures’ treatment of death is part of enhancing our life here on earth. Also, as you mentioned, we seem to lose our fear of death as as we become older. Speaking for myself, I have organized my spiritual house so I feel more at peace with my demise and no longer fear it. Thank you for writing about what so many are scared to confront.
Danny, thanks for sharing your videos. You have a beautifully soothing voice and a calming spirit. I am just two pages into an illustrated journal now, but the big takeaway is that I HAVE started! And I even have a drawing of my husband and one of myself. These are "firsts" for me. We're both been retired for a number of years, and I want a record of our later years that will remind us of our joys, our sorrows, and our ongoing challenges. I hope it will be something one of us can look back on and recall happy times - but also the struggles we each endured. Perhaps that will help us put our eventual grief in perspective. For now, it is simply a zen activity that helps relieve stress. Keep up the videos - and I'll keep watching!
Love this Danny. I just wanted to tell you I took your class on journaling in Paris and loved it. I just came back from Sicily and journaled about our trip. It came out so cute, I wish I could draw on site but I find it difficult to do that way so I take pics and try to remember the special moments and then when I get home I translate it onto paper. Thank you again for inspiring me. I wanted to send you a picture but it wouldn’t allow me too.
So very sorry for the loss of your brother in law.
My sister in law has terminal brain cancer that has hung over our family for a year and a half now. She's going back in for radiation and chemo for the next two weeks. May God Bless both of them.
Wow, a lot history behind this head stone.
Thank you for sharing your story ❤️ 🙏 😊, sorry for your loss
Happy to return to Sketchbook Skool. You taught me illustrated journaling and I’ve been filling up sketchbooks ever since. Thank you for that!
Thank you for writing about this with such candor and tenderness.
