I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. And I can’t remember specifically when the feeling of being bored became so (in some kind of way) painful! And how to try to reframe the specific feeling into a positive, like an ignition source or internal motivation to get off my ass and get making. Lately I’ve been trying to identify the feeling and take it as a hint from my subconscious, but then to stay away from my phone or iPad and pick up a pen and paper.
The best (and unexpected) part has been my kids have started copying me! And they pick up their little sketchbook and start scribbling next to me instead of being glued to the tv.
There’s the adult boredom of going to work every day 9-5 and doing a job, and then there’s the childhood boredom of “I don’t have anything to doooooo” … wish I had the latter!!
I hardly ever feel bored, not even as a child. Maybe because I grew up in a very creative family. We were always encouraged to make something. To do something.
I love the richness of boredom. I sometimes dream about the tech Armageddon, especially with AI creeping in, but while it would benefit me, my autistic kid would never survive it.
was talking to a few friends the other day and it's so exhausting how we're all needing to be bored again like we used to be kids, just sitting down in the same space, looking at each other with no phones and letting our brain kickstart the weirdest conversations. Dreaming!

Listening to you feels like hearing a father figure speak his thoughts on a random Tuesday breakfast. I love how this feels.
In Belgium we have a saying "boredom is the best sauce" by which we mean that lots of good things come from being bored. 😊

You are brilliant, Danny. Love your images, your words, and your warm inspiration. Thank you.
I loved being bored, because I think of daydreaming as a kid! And that video? FANTASTIC. Really moved me!
The video is excellent! And, here's to more art during these boring times 🤗
