Living the dream
Perhaps it's time to wake up.
I’ve always thought that one day I’d want to own a classic car — an old Jag or a ‘65 Mustang. Maybe a Lamborghini Countach.
Or learn to play a musical instrument reasonably well.
I’ve always figured I’d eventually get into excellent physical shape. Or visit my boyhood home in Pakistan.
I’ve planned to one day own a whole pack of dogs and learn to play tennis, become a computer coder, and spend the whole day, every day, just drawing.
As time passes, many of those things have become quite doable.
But I don’t do them. And maybe, I’m finally admitting I don’t really want to.
It’s easy to kick life down the road. To stuff a folder labeled “One Day.” To put a pin in passions and wait to make them real ... later.
Are there things you’ve always told yourself you want to do one day? And — given the opportunity to do them — do you actually still want to?
Do you still really want to live in Vermont or Fiji?
To write a novel?
To own a snake?
Or a tattoo of one?
Maybe it’s time to clean out your dream attic.
To Marie-Kondo® each one, check its sell-by date and see if it’s gone stale in the can.
Don’t put it off any longer. Today, figure out what you really, truly want to do with your life.
And clear some room to start doing it.
Your pal,
Danny
